Braithwaite & Co Ltd will be implementing e-Procurement for Purchases in MSTC e-Procurement Portal  https://www.mstcecommerce.com/eproc  from 1st week of July 2022. All the Vendors are requested to get themselves registered in the above Portal.   Braithwaite & Co. Limited welcomes and solicits active participation from Women and SC / ST MSE Units in the tenders of the Company.   ALL VENDORS ARE REQUESTED TO GET REGISTERED IN GEM PORTAL FOR DIFFERENT PRODUCTION SERVICES TO BE EXECUTED IN BCL.   Concerned Business Associates are requested to settle down their unclaimed EMD against finished / closed tenders with submission of proper documents. This scope will be open till 30th June'2021 and after that no such request will be entertained.



BRIEF HISTORY OF BRAITHWAITE


Braithwaite & Co. Ltd. owes its origin to the British firm of Braithwaite & Kirk (B & K) established in 1884 known as Crown Works, West Bromwich, England.
In 1913, Braithwaite established a fabrication shop in Calcutta for using imported girder sections to build bridges. Thus Braithwaite was established in India.
1921- The firm changed its name to Braithwaite & Co. (B & C) following buy out of most of the share capital by Sir Arthur Dorman (Dorman Long Foundry, Middlesbrough ) and Jim Humphryes.
1924- The Company established a Special Factory at Mulund, Bombay for fabrication of materials for Indian Railways.
February 28, 1930- Incorporated in Bengal as Braithwaite & Co. (India) Ltd.
1934- The Clive Works in Calcutta commenced manufacturing of wagons.
1960- The Company took over Angus Works from Thomas Duff Group to augment its production activities in Foundry, Jute carding machines and maintenance support to Jute Mills
1987- Victoria works was taken over which is equipped for manufacture of Pressure vessels, Railway wagons and Heavy structurals.. By virtue of The Braithwaite & Co. (India) Limited (Acquisition & Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1976, the Company was Nationalised w.e.f. 01.04.1975.
01.12.1976- Registered and incorporated as Braithwaite & Co. Ltd. as a fully owned Govt. Of India Undertaking.
06.08.2010- Administrative control of the Company was taken over by the Ministry of Railways from Ministry of Heavy Industries.
